There make sure all the wires were kind of tucked in nicely, and then I fit the screws through the holes on each side here, screwed it down a little bit and then you want to level it off to make sure your thing is perfectly level you don't Want to do what I'm a do next and have it off, so I traced each side around with a pin. Okay, and then we pull the sconce back off. So this is going to give you a nice little outline to cut with a little guide, and this is all to make sure that the wall-mounted, lantern or sconce, whatever you want to call it, is actually vertical, because if you mount, if I just mount it right There I could have done that, but you notice how lap siding it. You know it tilts backwards, so the lantern would actually be. You know, can't it and not level.
So it looks kind of weird I mean it's not, it doesn't look horrible, but it looks better if you do it this way, so this takes a little bit more time. Obviously, what I did it you know once I had traced the outline, I took my Dremel and you can use a router or whatever you have kind of go around and I carefully traced my lines dug in not too deep at the top. You don't really need to cut that much if at all, just kind of a little bit. I didn't you notice, I didn't do it at the very top. So then, I took a Dremel router bit and I just used it in my drill, because the Dremel part would have been a little more difficult because of the base of it, so basically just cutting it through and the only part you need to go like all The way through is is like just below the junction box there or the.
I think, that's what it's called. So you notice, I'm just kind of tracing around and doesn't like, I said, doesn't have to be too deep at the top. I was just kind of making it basically wide enough, so the the frame will fit into that nice indentation there. Okay, mainly working on the bottom part and now I'll, take my Dremel and make sure it's a little bit deeper. Nice clean the edges off a little bit.I want to make it look good. You know, okay have a. I thought it did pretty good on this one. As far as I keep within the lines, then you could just chisel out the bottom part here and I didn't have a chisel. So obviously I just used a flat head screwdriver and a plastic hammer just kind of tap it out of there not being too tough with it, and my sighting was kind of just kind of wood.
So it's like press board wood. So it's pretty easy to chip out. If you have different kinds of sidings, it probably probably generally would this would work for just about any of it. So I'm sure if you cut the outside edges, all the way, just pretty much fall out of there. So this is what I did you'll see the exposed siding under that.
So basically, after that, I put the put it back on there to make sure that I had gotten all the sides and look at that. It fits flush in there nice and level. I was did it on the first: try there, so that's pretty good. Alright, then attach the wires. I did the ground to ground.
First then, I take the black wire make sure your power is off once again and did the white wire to the white wire get those screwed on there really good kind of goes back in as much as possible, get it for protection and also so it doesn't. You know mess up your ability to put your wall sconce on there, so once I got it all there, nice and sucked in look at that nice and flush right there. So, like I was saying before, the screws were a little long and I had to put spacers between them too, because I would like, with these, they wouldn't allow me to screw them on all the way, so it was like actually a gap there. So I put a spacer in between there little plastic ones. I had there about 1/4 - maybe 2/4 1/2 an inch of a spacer.
So I put those on there then here I'm attaching the top at two different tops that came with this and there's. It is just screwing it on there and - and it looks pretty good okay, my friend, so it's dark out now and I set up the lights to high-sensitivity motion activation. Let's see if it can. Oh so I'm from here over there - and it's sensed me so that's pretty good - let's see if I can get out here see if the other one senses me or not. If I'm walking up to my door and probably 20 20 feet away.
