It's a porch landscaping project and we're going to change one by the landscaping in front, and I'm Also putting in a gravel, walkway or pathway, that's going to lean around around the porch to the back of the house so that when we walk around here, we'll get wet and muddy doing that so come along with us right now, I'm right now, I'm just taking Off the side, I'm going at the old fashioned way, you could get a sod cutter and do a little bit easier, but a a little bit of exercise so and then you can to the side. You can always recycle that put that in your compost, pile and you can recycled sod or use it another part to new yard for patch and repair so stay with us and we'll show you how we're doing this gravel walkway all right.
So I've got the first layers of the decide off we're going to go ahead and tweak our little design with some curves and things to make it interesting on the on the on the walkway or the pathway. Now I need to dig it out and dig some that dirt out there down about three four inches, so I can put a base and then put the we're going to use pea, gravel, Tennessee, pea, gravel. Actually, I think, on top as far as right now that may change, and you have to stay with us and see what we actually end up with.
So we get that part done. That was most aggravating part. Now it's on to the fun part, oh by the way you might want to know first on with anyway, our plants look right now. This is like the third week or second third week of January that we're doing this. So so that's why our plants aren't in bloom, yet those kinds of things, but it is a beautiful day and we're working outside and we've got pathway dug out right now on laying in the border of the brick we save this brick when the house was constructed.
So that it matches and right now, I'm just laying it in getting it kind of where I want it, loving with the cutting with the ground, and then I'm going to go ahead and square them out once I get them all in place. I've got the landscape fabric down, so we get leads up through it and graph. Those around the brick which I later cut that cut that off later on the side is where we are right here. Suppose there is, we keep going. Three are me up, area come on stone Josh? This is crushed.
Gravel thicknesses are better of our walkway house, and so I'm just a matter of overloads and put it down and then we're roller and yeah. You know put it down as much as we can packing in as hard as we can so we're well on our way now looks great, hey got a fast-forward a little bit. We put our walkway in in January, we had some nice weather, so I was able to get that in and so now here in a spring time in its it's all finished, we really enjoy it. It makes it nice to be able to walk around walk on the house with the ground, wet or muddy when your shoes, just a couple tips again is this - has worked really well. We used recycled some bricks from construction sites and put a base of stone, gravel and then pea gravel.
On top of that, the trick is to make sure that your level of pea gravel is just a thin thin layer. You don't want a lot of females because it's trying to walk on if it's too much so just make sure you just have a thin layer on top.
