Even though you may remove your outdoor furnishings from outside, at the end of the summer season, and store them or winterize them, you will still experience some deterioration in fabrics, furniture, accessories and decorative yard art through each spring and summer season.
If your outdoor area is a bit sunny and planting trees around it for shade may take some time, you can try putting up a shade instead. All you need is a canopy. Put it up and you get instant shade that immediately makes your area a great place to hang out.
If you have a deck or patio, there would be a great assortment of outdoor deck lights to enhance this area. Even the grill could use the outdoor bar-b-que light. One which would clip on to any work station of the grill or you might want one of the outdoor floor lamps. The patio furniture could make use of the umbrella's with the outdoor string lighting or the outdoor lighting designed to fit any umbrella's post. The use of outdoor garden lighting, outdoor post lights could be used to bring the sense of warmth and security to your property.
Planning a retreat area really doesn't require a great deal of time, effort, or even money. In fact, you may already have everything you'll need. A comfortable place to sit, a source of light, and some basic amenities that support activities that you find to be relaxing are all you really need. To enhance the illusion of being outdoors, it can be fun to use patio furniture and other outdoor accents to create a look that's "almost" outdoors. If desired, you can also add a few decorative touches to make your retreat area a bit more appealing. For example, nature-themed metal wall art or a few live plants can be used to add some decorative appeal.
Whether you have an outdoor living space that is small in size or a large area it is an opportunity to become a place of refuge, relaxation and enjoyment.
