Lantern light and this installs just the same this almost every other outdoor light but these are pretty cool because they're LED so they use a lot less energy and it also has a photocell on the top so it can turn off during the day no matter what but I have four lights on the wall that I'm going to replace in the box you have the main unit that scrolls because on the top a mounting bracket and the cap first thing you can do is take the cap and screw it in and then use a Philips driver and unscrew these two screws on top and inside you can take out these cardboard rings that's just for shipping so the glass doesn't crack if you're going to put on the metal scroll you need to unscrew the nut and bolt here and use that insert the scroll into the loop and put the screw in there you don't need the nut so you can throw those away and that's it.
That's all you have to do to assemble it to take the old ones off on this style I have one nut that you undo you can pull out the wires and before you get into doing any of this make sure that the power is off you need to turn it off at the breaker not just the light switch because you might be doing this safely with the light switch off but somebody else might accidentally turn the light on when you're working on it and you don't want that to happen so when you're doing stuff like this turn it off at the breaker if you turn the caps counterclockwise they come off and you can undo your wires this kind of bracket is not the kind that the new light needs you might have one that you can just leave but I have to take this one out couple screws just comes right off and you may have a box on yours an electrical box the builders and put one on here's.
So I can loosen the nut and spin the bolt back in to make it shorter you're going to have to do this a few times to get it to the right depth put it back on and see how it looks now it's a little too short so now I can pull it out a little bit tighten the nut and it should be perfect so once it's where you need it take a wrench and tighten these as tight as you can make sure you're not pinching any wires and as long as the threads are sticking out about an eighth of an inch that's good enough because when you tighten them it'll pull them closer so there's just two of these caps that go on both sides and that holds the whole light on and that's it it's installed now you might want to remember to keep the paperwork for this light in case you crack the glass if you have some sort of contact info for the company at least you could get a replacement again so you take off the nut take off the wire caps remove your old light take out.
The bracket put the new bracket in adjust it so it's level tighten the center screws adjust the depth of mounting bolts recap all the wires ground to ground black to black white to white fold the wires in place the light on and secure it with the two threaded caps and here's what they look like installed I really couldn't be happier with them they have great light the cracked glass adds a nice effect it diffuses it and it still looks really good again my name is Adam and if you have any questions please leave them in the comments section I'll do my best to answer if this video has been helpful also please click like don't forget to click Subscribe if you want to see more videos like this and until the next video have a great day
