Large metal yard remnants that I found at a flea market. We got three of the same one. Now I'm going to do three treatments to give them totally different styles. What I really want is for you guys to see that you can take the same item and look at it slightly different, find its potential and add your own style and flavor just wait and see what I do. These are gonna be totally different. The quickest and easiest way to transform anything is give it a fresh coat of paint.
Now I'm making sure to use a primer specifically for metal but it'll prevent it from rusting through the paint in the future. I'm gonna add a nice, bold red-orange. That's gonna give it that graphic pop art feeling once that's dry, we'll put a clear coat on it, it'll be ready to hang on the wall now for this panel, I love how distressed it is, but the breast on the metal. So what I'm gonna do is use a flat sealer. It's gonna keep the metal from rusting anymore and serve this industrial. Look, then what I'm going to do is come behind and line it with a selfish or Moose fabric.
There's this nice juxtaposition between this hard edge, industrial with hops of color, that's really satin and silky and delicate. Now I've just taken a piece and cut it to the same dimensions as the remnant when you're stretching fabric around the board or stretching canvas always wants to start in the center and work your way to the corners. When you get four to six inches from the edge of your board, stop stapling! You want to move to the short side and repeat the same process you did before when you're finished.
The fabric should be nice and smooth not to toot my own horn. But that looks pretty perfect. Now I have my holes for my Hardware pre-drilled. I just have to put the two pieces together with some hanging hardware and it's ready to put on the wall just because this is steel. It doesn't mean that you can't achieve the same effect on other metals. So what I'm gonna do is I'm using this modern masters effect to paint it actually has little pieces of metal in the paint. So I'm going to do one nice even coat and then come back with a patina solution.
