Outdoor decorating involves different challenges. The most important is dealing with materials that will encounter the outdoor elements. Sun, wind and rain have an effect on outdoor furnishings, and this needs to be taken in consideration when purchasing furniture, accessories, and outdoor art decor.
Another effective way to decorate the exterior of your home is by coming up with outdoor lighting. Outdoor lighting gives light to walkways and adds carriage lights around doorways - definitely a good investment. Outdoor lights' availability will not be an issue as they even come in a wide range of designs and styles to complement your outdoor decor.
An outdoor area will look great in the evenings if you have candles at hand. Get several votive candles in glass jam jars or purchase some inexpensive tea light holders from your home improvement stores. These candles when hung and placed around the patio will create a romantic atmosphere for you and your loved ones. It will be a great place to just relax and enjoy each other's company.
If space permits, a sitting area in your front yard will be a good addition. You can place a nice outdoor bench or maybe a pair of rocking chairs matched with a fitting beverage table. You may also want to add a couple of relaxing fabric pillows in your sitting area for comfort. Another option is to add some hanging plants for a more refreshing ambience.
These outdoor furniture sets are usually less expensive than one piece of the pvc wicker, and they also hold up to the elements. However, if the furniture has fabric pillows, a person must expect them to fade with time and exposure to the elements.
One of my favorite outdoor decor pieces is bamboo water spouts. A beutifuly designed Japanese bamboo water fountain like a Shishi Odoshi (Deer Scarer) bamboo fountain creates zen-like back yard. A perfect compliment to a Shishi Odoshi fountain is a tea stand and fragrant Asian herbs.
