The light strips are pretty straightforward they have adhesive bags that will stick to most surfaces, although you may want to hold them in place with painters tape until they stick permanently. The strips will plug into the module and then there's a power supply, not to mention you can easily connect multiple strips together for a longer run of lights, make sure the IR sensor is visible and you will be able to change the colors on the fly outdoor settings work just as well.
Make sure you measure the area you want lights and then cut the strips or solder and leads where necessary, if you're not sure how to do this watch a video on how here line them up using painters, tape and then come back with either staples or small brackets to hold them in place.
If you don't plan on removing the power after each use, make sure you get yourself a weatherproof box for the module and power supply. If you're going to be running lights over 32 feet, you will need to upgrade the module and purchase 12 volt power supplies for each new module.
